My background

I grew up in the beatiful Alps in Italy where tourism and agriculture are the main businesses – business that were not of interest for me. I was curious how computer and software work. I started with simple HTML and CSS to develop a webpage. I was more and more fascinated. Therefore, I decided to study computer science (Bsc in Italy and Msc in Austria). In 2013 I found my passion to IoT @ IBM at the student program Extreme Blue. My fire for IoT never stopped since then. I worked for several years as software developer in the IBM Watson IoT platform team. After work, I worked on my own IoT projects. One project was for example a IoT connected smart mirror. Back then, such a special mirror was quite new – no products existed on the market. I was at different fairs where I presented at the booth of IBM what can be done with IoT. It was a very fascinated time. I had great team colleagues and interesting challenges where learned a lot. In mid of 2017 I quit my job at IBM to start a new chapter in my life: start my own business. Since then help customers in their IoT strategy, from idea to go to market.

I like to move out from my comfort zone, to widen my horizon. I love the format of hackathons because you not only build a prototype in a very short amount of time – I take the opportunity to learn new technologies, and work side on side with other interesting developers I have not worked before. I was several hackathons, not only in Europe but also in USA. Besides my own business, I founded the organization HackTheAlps, where I am the president. HackTheAlps is a special hackathon: a hackathon for developers organized by developers. This hackathon takes place at the top of the Alps, with a beautiful view and great food with lot of geeky topics and interesting people. In 2018 the first edition took place. In 2020 the second edition will follow.

I love the tech world, but I also love beeing in the nature, doing sport: skiing, bycicle, hiking, going with my snow shoes – it helps to clean my head and see things clearly.
